The Residential Colleges (RC) are tied to a first-semester class, so freshmen get to live and learn with students who share their interests. The RC participation rate of freshmen hovered from 38% to 36% from 2013 to 2015. Residential college participants are more likely to be members of underrepresented groups, such as international students, students of color, and first-generation students. Compared to non-participants, residential college 2015 participants scored higher averages on ACT, SAT total, SAT verbal, and SAT math.
